Secretary of State Jon Husted spoke to the Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission concerning changing the state’s process for drawing legislative and congressional districts. According to a recent Plain Dealer Article, Nov. 14, 2013.
His [Husted’s] recommendations:
- The apportionment board should be expanded from five to seven, so that at least two members of the minority party are included.
- It’s actions should require approval from a supermajority that includes support from both Republicans and Democrats.
- The districts it creates should be drawn with compactness and competitiveness in mind.
